Our Mission

Helping people write their story is what our work is about. We start with a blank page and help our clients create their next chapter. Through a process of organizing, sorting, and editing ideas, we create new spaces where our clients better enjoy their life.

My Story

Brian’s work has always resided at the intersection of community and architectural design. After receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, he moved to Minnesota, working in residential design for some of the finest companies in the Twin Cities, from the large firm of HGA to the boutique office of Sharratt Design & Co.

For 15 years, Brian ran his own design-build company, Hestia Homes. In that time, he designed and built over 120 homes, mastering the process of custom home construction. He guided his clients from the design interview stage, where they shared their vision, to walking in the front door of their finished home. Running Hestia Homes honed his ability to produce homes with well-crafted, meaningful details in a cost-effective way.

At Sharratt Design & Co., he spent 19 years as Director of Remodeling. In his time at SDC, he work on over 100 projects, ranging from simple kitchen redesigns to multimillion dollar estates. Remodeling projects at SDC included the careful renovation of historic properties to produce work that seamlessly reflected the character of the original homes.

Community has consistently shown up in Brian’s professional and service work.  As one of the founders of EPNI in downtown Minneapolis, Brian went on to create NIC, where he developed over 200 affordable housing units that kick-started the turnaround of Elliot Park neighborhood.   Brian’s work at Hestia created an innovative, high-density, single-family housing development with 54 homes.

Brian strongly believes that volunteering and service work is a pillar of a healthy community.  As a resident of Maple Plain, Brian was on the planning commission for 7 years and served as chairman for 3; he was instrumental in bringing the MN Design Team to Maple Plain, which resulted in the creation of design and development guidelines for the city.

He helped create MN350 in its early years and has been in a leadership role and on its coordinating council since 2011. He is a member of Citizens Climate Lobby and on the Planning Commission for the City of Northfield.
